Loy Krathong
The Thai festival ‘Loy Krathong’ is held early in November on the night of a full moon.
The people offer thanks to the Goddess of water, by floating little lotus shaped vessels (Krathongs) on canals, rivers & ponds by moonlight.
The Krathongs are made from banana leaves and are decorated with flowers, a lit candle and three sticks of incense. The three sticks of incense represent: The Buddha, The Dharma and The Sangha.
It is believed that the Krathongs carry away bad luck.

The sight of hundreds of candle lit boats floating on the water by moonlight is simply magical.
